THROWBACKTHISDAY, FEB 17; First Woman Newspaper Editor in Chief in Saudi Arabia

On Thisday 17th February, 2014 The Saudi Gazette made Somayya Jibarti the newspaper's editor in chief, marking the first time a woman would hold such a position in the country.

Her successor wrote about the decision to put her in charge and made sure to state that her position was granted solely on merit. The decision marked a huge moment for women's rights in Saudi Arabia.
