Joseph John "Joe" Cole (born 8 November 1981) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Coventry City, on loan from Aston Villa.
Cole was born in Paddington, London,[2][4] and lived there until he moved to Somers Town at the age of six. He was adopted by George and Susan Cole, and grew up with brother Nicky and sister Charly.[5] He was educated at St Mary's Primary School, Bryanston Square in Marylebone. He also attended Haverstock School in Chalk Farm, Camden and St Aloysius College in Highgate.
 
He started his career with West Ham United, where he played more than 120 Premier League games during five years, until he left for Chelsea in 2003. Cole won a number of trophies with Chelsea, including three Premier League titles and two FA Cups before leaving on a free transfer in July 2010 to join Liverpool, who a year later loaned him to Lille. In January 2013 he returned to West Ham and then joined Aston Villa after being released in May 2014.
A full international since 2001, Cole was capped by the England national team on 56 occasions, scoring 10 goals. He was selected for the England squad in three World Cups and Euro 2004.
